Top 10 Most Expensive Disney Pins in the World

Top 10 Most Expensive Disney Pins in the World

Disney pins have existed ever since Disneyland opened in 1955, but the Disney trading pin phenomenon didn’t truly kick off until the late 1990s. Since then, many of these wearable pieces of Disney iconography have skyrocketed in price due to rarity and high demand. But which of these pins is the priciest?

The most expensive Disney pin is the 2015 Animal Kingdom Giant Tree Jumbo Pin. This pin sold on eBay for $10,000 in March 2022. It’s a limited edition, year-specific jumbo pin featuring Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life split into six sections, each containing an iconic Disney animal character.

Whether you’re an avid trading pin collector or someone looking to begin a Disney pin collection, this ranking will reveal which Disney pins are worth the biggest bucks.

Here Are the Top Most Expensive Disney Pins in the World:

  1. 2015 Animal Kingdom Giant Tree Jumbo Pin – $10,000
  2. Disney Girls Rapunzel Chaser Pin – $7,999
  3. WDI Maui & Moana Outrigger Canoe Pin – $4,800
  4. WDI Limited Edition Ariel Profile Pin – $4,500
  5. Disney Auctions Sleeping Beauty Elisabete Gomes Pin – $4,500
  6. SpectroMagic Big Bad Wolf Pin – $4,495
  7. Disney Auctions Elisabete Gomes Alice in Wonderland Flowers Pin – $4,000
  8. Disney Auctions Ariel Princess Carousel Horse Pin – $4,000

As you’ll see, many of the world’s most expensive Disney pins are Disney Auctions pieces. These unique pins weren’t available at the Disney parks, being sold exclusively through the online auction platform eBay.

Disney has since discontinued their Disney Auction items, making the Disney Auction pins incredibly valuable and collectible. The Disney Auctions Art Nouveau Jumbo Belle is one of the priciest of these rare pins.

Only 100 of these limited edition pins were released in 2005. The pin features an image of Princess Belle in a stained glass window, a bouquet of flowers in one hand and another lifted toward a bird in flight.

In June 2022, one of these large-sized pins sold for $2,999 on eBay. The original price was only $22.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Size, uniqueness, and rarity contribute to this pin’s above-average price. Firstly, it’s a jumbo pin, making it far more visible than smaller, lanyard-sized pins. This makes it visually more appealing than tiny Disney pins.

Secondly, the stained glass window effect imparted in this pin is a unique touch that appeals to some buyers, driving up the price. But primarily, this pin is costly because it’s a rare Disney Auctions piece (one of only 100).

9. Disney Auctions Tinker Bell Teacup Bubble Bath Pin – $3,000

Tinker Bell is one of the most beloved Disney characters due to her spunky attitude and adorable appearance. Many Tinker Bell pins sell for high prices, but the costliest of them all is the Disney Auctions Tinker Bell Teacup Bubble Bath Pin.

This pin sold in March 2021 for $3,000! Its original price was much lower, costing only $40 when it was released online in 2006.

The Tinker Bell Teacup Bubble Bath Pin shows the fairy sitting in a suds-filled teacup, blowing a blue bubble out of her hand. It’s considered one of the most charming Disney pins, especially among fans of the 1953 Disney classic, Peter Pan.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Like many other high-value Disney pins, the Tinker Bell Teacup Bubble Bath Pin is a limited edition item. Only 100 were produced, making them far rarer than most pins found at Disney parks.

Additionally, this is a Disney Auctions exclusive. Because Disney Auctions is no longer operating, it’s now impossible to buy this pin directly from Disney. This quality means that this Tinker Bell pin will only become rarer and more valuable over time, especially as demand increases.

8. Disney Auctions Ariel Princess Carousel Horse Pin – $4,000

In 2003, Disney Auctions released a limited set of Disney Princess Carousel Horse pins. This six-pin set consisted of:

  • Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
  • Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
  • Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
  • Cinderella (Cinderella)
  • Jasmine (Aladdin)
  • Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

All of these Disney Auctions pins can fetch high prices, but the one that’s sold for the largest sum is the Ariel Princess Carousel Horse Pin. This pin, depicting Princess Ariel riding a blue-and-pink seahorse, sold on eBay for $4,000 in September 2022.

When it was originally listed, it cost $65.68. That’s a price increase of about 5,990%!

Why Is It So Expensive?

It’s hard to pinpoint the precise reason why this particular Disney Princess Carousel pin is so much more valuable than the others.

But we know that only 100 of these pins were released (making them limited), and the attractiveness of having a full collection (all six) might contribute to the abnormally high price. In fact, ensuring that you have all six is probably partially responsible for the high price of other 2003 Disney Princess Carousel pins.

For example, you can find a Belle Princess Carousel Pin listed on eBay for a staggering $5,000. However, because this pin hasn’t sold yet, we’re not going to count it as more valuable than the Ariel version.

7. Disney Auctions Elisabete Gomes Alice in Wonderland Flowers Pin – $4,000

Elisabete Gomes is one of the most famous Disney artists of all time. Since 1998, Gomes has acted as a Guest Artist for the Disneyland theme park, using her talent to create some of the most desirable Disney pins in the world.

One of these is the Disney Auctions Alice in Wonderland Flowers Pin. In 2021, this pin sold for a jaw-dropping $4,000 on eBay. You can still find listings for this limited edition pin (there are only 100) at this price.

This rectangular, portrait-shaped pin shows Alice surrounded by flowers, and it’s a truly colorful masterpiece. Although it originally retailed for $43.43 in 2005, it’s worth far more nowadays thanks to its rarity and autograph.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Many Elisabete Gomes Disney pins feature the artist’s autograph on the back, making the pins far more valuable to collectors.

It’s unknown how many Alice in Wonderland Flowers pins feature Gomes’s autograph, and there may only be one. For this reason, this pin is especially rare and potentially one of a kind, making it quite valuable.

It’s also a Disney Auctions piece, and as we’ve established, Disney Auctions pins can sell for incredible prices.

6. SpectroMagic Big Bad Wolf Pin – $4,495

Until 2010, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, hosted a colorful parade called the SpectroMagic Parade. Although this parade was retired, a Disney pin set was released in 2014 to honor its legacy.

Referred to as Disney SpectroMagic pins by collectors, this set consists of a dozen unique pins, each with above-average resale prices. Still, the SpectroMagic Big Bad Wolf Pin is the costliest of the bunch.

This pin, which features the Big Bag Wolf from Disney’s 1933 short film Three Little Pigs, sold for $4,495 in January 2022.

Why Is It So Expensive?

When Disney releases a pin set, some of the pins within that set become quite valuable.

This phenomenon occurs when collectors attempting to amass a full set are missing one piece. When this happens, the collector might be willing to pay a high price for that missing piece, as it will complete their collection.

The person who paid almost $4,500 for the SpectroMagic Big Bad Wolf Pin was likely doing just that!

5. Disney Auctions Sleeping Beauty Elisabete Gomes Pin – $4,500

The Disney Auctions Sleeping Beauty Pin is one of the highest-value Elisabete Gomes Disney pins ever sold.

In July 2020, this pin sold for $4,500 on eBay. It’s currently listed for about $4,900! Compared to its original price of $45, that’s a massive increase.

This rounded-square pin is a limited edition item, with only 100 available to Disney Auctions bidders in 2005. It depicts Aurora from Sleeping Beauty resting in her bed, a shaft of golden light illuminating her slumbering self.

This pin’s unusually muted colors and gorgeous design are partially responsible for its higher-than-average value. That said, its limited edition status and association with Disney Guest Artist Elisabete Gomes are also influential factors when it comes to price.

Why Is It So Expensive?

The Disney Auctions Sleeping Beauty Pin by Elisabete Gomes isn’t like a lot of other Disney pins. Instead of featuring a cacophony of bright, eye-catching colors, it has a more somber color palette and tone. These aesthetic qualities make it more attractive to collectors, particularly adult collectors.

This pin is also exceedingly rare, being both a Disney Auctions and Elisabete Gomes piece. These qualities will likely make this Princess Aurora pin more valuable over time.

4. WDI Limited Edition Ariel Profile Pin – $4,500

Some Disney pins have dramatic, record-setting selling points but typically sell for much lower prices. But others, like the WDI Limited Edition Ariel Profile Pin, consistently sell for big bucks.

This Walt Disney Imagineers (WDI) pin was released in 2018, making it one of the newest entries on this ranking. Only 250 of these pins were produced, and most sell for between $200 and $2,000. In July 2020, an eBay buyer set a new record for this pin when they purchased it for $4,500.

For perspective, some of the most expensive LEGO sets are more affordable than this limited edition pin. Consequently, investing in Disney pins could end up being pretty profitable.

That said, to make the best investments, you’ll need to understand why some Disney pins are so expensive. So, why is the WDI Limited Edition Ariel Profile Pin one of the priciest options?

Why Is It So Expensive?

This pin’s higher-than-average price results from its limited edition status (there are only 250 in the whole world). Additionally, there’s an incredible level of demand for this pin.

If you didn’t have the chance to buy this pin for $18.95 in 2018, your best bet is to try and buy one now. After all, the prices for high-demand Disney pins tend to increase over time, so acting now might be the best way to enjoy the biggest return on investment (ROI).

3. WDI Maui & Moana Outrigger Canoe Pin – $4,800

Jumbo pins almost always retail for higher prices than small pins. Considering the fact that these massive pins require more material and time to create, this price difference makes perfect sense.

Still, some Disney Jumbo pins cost far more than others. The WDI Maui & Moana Outrigger Canoe Pin is a prime example.

In July 2021, this huge pin sold for $4,800 on eBay. It’s currently listed for more than three times that price!

Initially released in 2016, this pin’s original retail price was $69.95. It was only available to attendees of the Destination D: Amazing Adventures event hosted at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Convention Center. As you might imagine, this limited release makes it particularly rare and valuable.

Why Is It So Expensive?

Only 150 of these Moana pins were made available in 2016, and they were only offered to the guests who attended the Destination D: Amazing Adventures event in Orland, Florida.

Consequently, this pin was far harder to track down and purchase than those available at standard Disney parks. Because it’s so rare and exclusive, it remains a high-priced Disney pin.

2. Disney Girls Rapunzel Chaser Pin – $7,999

Like the WDI Limited Edition Ariel Profile Pin, the 2010 Disney Girls Rapunzel Chaser Pin consistently sells for high prices. In 2013, this pin sold via Hake’s Auctions for $4,074. But in June 2021, it sold on eBay for $7,999, setting a new sales record for the pin.

This particular pin had a high condition rating of 9.2 (Near Mint), making it one of the highest-quality specimens available (most of these pins are used and show signs of wear or damage).

The Rapunzel Chaser Pin was part of the Reveal/Conceal Mystery Collection, and it originally retailed for $19.95. Initially available only at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, this bejeweled pin is considered a limited-release item that’s highly collectible.

For the price of this Rapunzel pin, you could afford to invest in many of the most expensive Beanie Babies!

Why Is It So Expensive?

This pin is part of the Receal/Conceal Mystery Collection set of pins, and those hoping to complete their collection are often willing to pay big bucks to do so. That said, set completion isn’t the only reason this limited-release Disney pin is so pricey.

The Rapunzel Chaser Pin is considered one of the most desirable of the set thanks to its aesthetic beauty. It also features a higher-than-average number of jewels along its bottom.

1. 2015 Animal Kingdom Giant Tree Jumbo Pin – $10,000

The most expensive Disney pin is the 2015 Animal Kingdom Giant Tree Jumbo Pin. This limited-run pin sold for $10,000 on eBay in March 2022. Current listings for this pin vary between $150 and $10,000.

There are quite a few Animal Kingdom pins featuring the Tree of Life. But the 2015 Giant Tree Jumbo Pin is by far the most valuable.

This pin features a large “2015” in yellow lettering at its base, with a stylized Tree of Life rising behind the year. This tree is divided into six sections, each with a specific background color (red at the leftmost panel, light blue at the rightmost panel). Each panel contains a Disney animal character.

Only 500 of these pins were released; this was the third (and final) Walt Disney World Resort 2015 Animal Kingdom pin released for the 2015 season. Its original price was only $24.95!

Why Is It So Expensive?

This pin’s consistently high auction price stems from its rarity (there are only 500), as well as high collector demand.

Condition also plays a significant role in pricing, as the most valuable of these Tree of Life pins are still in their bright blue Walt Disney World Resort boxes. These boxes are in immaculate condition, with no signs of discoloration or damage.

Still, although this colorful Tree of Life pin costs about as much as a used compact car, it isn’t quite as costly as some of the world’s most expensive toys!

What’s the Most Expensive Disney Pin in the World?

The most expensive Disney pin in the world is the 2015 Animal Kingdom Giant Tree Jumbo Pin. This massive pin sold for $10,000 on eBay in 2022.

If you don’t want to pay such a premium price for this pin, you’ll be glad to know that this pin is occasionally listed online for as little as $150. As with many other Disney trading pins, this pin’s high price stems from its limited edition status, comparative rarity, and high collector demand.
